Tour of Pumping Station One

Is Home Depot your toy store? Are you remodeling your home? Do you think about bringing your ideas to life? We need your help for a new mural at Kedzie & Belmont!

We are excited to announce that we now have approval for our long awaited murals along the North & East sides of Kedzie & Belmont! This is a troubling intersection for pedestrian, bike and car safety and has many challenges with pigeon poop and lack of access. Our vision is that by continuing to bring art to the area, we can draw attention to the problems of this intersection in order to get the needed improvements. Addison and Avondale Mural Garden Clean-Up

On Saturday, October 3, the Addison and Avondale Mural Garden hosted a clean up day.  After an incredibly productive morning, the entire area was clean, weed-free, and looking great.  In addition to planting new foliage in the garden, volunteers also weeded and swept the entire walkway by both the Rafael Lopez mural and the mural by Tony Sparrow across the street.  In total, 9 bags of debris were collected and the space was looking beautiful in under 2 hours of work. Avondale School Forum

On Saturday, March 28 the Avondale Neighborhood Association hosted our first Neighborhood School Forum at the new NEIU El Centro Campus. The campus staff were gracious hosts and extended a welcome to host community events in the future.  They invited Avondale to participate in their upcoming Community and Health Fair day on Saturday, June 6. Want to clean your block? Become a Street Captain!

Each year the Avondale Neighborhood Association helps to organize neighbors in the area for the Avondale Clean & Green. This year the event is the Saturday after Earth Day, April 25th. We are looking for volunteers to become a Street Captain and organize a small team to clean up debris, clear gutters or garden on their block. Would you like to volunteer?
