North Side Latin Progress, a non-profit organization for the advancement of Latino workers, is holding an annual coat drive. Small/medium sized men’s coats are currently needed. Please reach out to Ms. Gretchen E. Moore at (312) 343-0804 for more information.

Woodward Cultural Alliance is currently seeking volunteers to help maintain Woodward plaza. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please reach out to the team at info@woodardculturalalliance.com

In partnership with the Chicago Coalition to Save Our Mental Health Centers, Chicago Votes is also seeking volunteers to help register residents in Avondale and to inform residents of a binding referendum on the November ballot that will establish a mental health center that would serve Avondale, Logan Square, and Hermosa. For those interested in volunteering, please reach out to Chicago Votes coordinator Alex Boutros at al_boutros@hotmail.com.

Alderman Deb Mell’s Chief of Staff Jason Hernandez also attended the meeting to answer questions and update residents on plans happening in the 33rd ward. The opportunity for students from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) to get involved in a community project for Avondale is still in the works. We are planning to obtain a sufficient amount of students involved this Fall.
