Below is information from the principal of Schurz Highschool, Daniel Kramer, regarding the start of the Friends of Schurz group:
The school year is off to an exciting start, and soon to will be the Friends of Schurz!
We are very excited to invite you to our September meeting, Tuesday, September 22 at Schurz High School. Our meeting will be held in Schurz Social room, easily accessible through the main door (with parking available in the small lot across Milwaukee Ave), or for those within walking distance, feel free to enter at door 11, which is along Waveland Avenue, right at the “bend” by the athletic field.
This month’s meeting will include:
  • Sharing of goals and ideas for the Friends of Schurz from our Summer Steering team,
  • Discussion of different ways to be involved in the Friends of Schurz,
  • Review of our calendar for the upcoming year,
  • and an exciting announcement about our first official School-Community event to be sponsored by Friends of Schurz (you’ll have to come to the meeting to hear more!).
One segment each Friends of Schurz meeting will include is a “Getting to Know Schurz ” presentation by members of one of our many special programs.
To conclude our first Friends of Schurz meeting, we have invited members of our International Baccalaureate (IB) program to present a short showcase of the program.

7:00 – 7:30 pm Discussion of different ways to be involved in Friends of Schurz, including Committees
7:30 – 8:00 Getting to Know Schurz: Introduction to the International Baccalaureate program
